Does anyone know what this Batcave item is?

Post by mailalan »

Does anyone know what this item in the Batcave is? I'm not as curious about what it's supposed purpose on the show was as I am about what they used to make it. Was it a fantasy item put together from various parts? Or was it a real piece of equipment similar to the way the Burroughs B205 was used for the Batcomputer?

Does anybody know what this item is?

I'm not sure-- but it looks a lot like a laser device used in LOST IN SPACE. You might find some more details on one of those fan sites.

I found another couple of good shots of it from a different angle:

Andy called it. Great eye, Andy! I think it’s purpose on the show was as a “force field generator.”

Here it is from Lost In Space. I’m a fan of both shows, but I never noticed it in Batman until you pointed it out, mailaIan.

BTW, are you a Vampira fan?

Yes this was the "Force Field Generator" in LIS

That’s it! I added that to my comments when I figured it out, but A. Pennyworth beat me to it.

Not sure I can post it here, but someone is selling a miniature 3-D printed version of several pieces of equipment from LiS, including the force field generator. They might print out just that in a larger scale, I suppose, if anyone is wanting to add to their McFarlane or custom Batcave. Would be worth the inquiry. If anyone does ask, and they say “yes,” please let us know.

Or, if anyone on the board is willing to make it (we are looking at you, Randy), that works too!😉

Awesome! I knew the experts here would know the answer. This is great information.

That is why was wanting more information on it. I was planning ahead for making a 1/6th scale Batcave to go with the Jazzinc Batmobile, Hot Toys/Saturn Toys Batman & Robin and the Procustomfigures Batcomputer/Batradar. I really need to learn how to do 3D modeling and printing.

Thanks everyone!

Andy and Pennyworth, yes. Pretty much everyone else on the board is an expert. But don’t count me as an expert. Just a fan. 😊

I'm late to the party on this one, but I would have also attested that this was the force field generator that John Robinson and Don West were forever desperately working on and always had to get set up for by nightfall before the bad guys showed - no matter which planet they ended up on! From what I understand the sound stages for Batman and LIS were side by side and props were shuffled back and forth across the lane as needed by the two notoriously extremely cheap producers of the shows. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the Batcave's computers doubled as alien computers on LIS or even Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. I know the bridge of Penguin's submarine was actually that of the Seaview's. I wonder if Admiral Nelson was aware? ;)

Mailalan I would suggest giving a free online 3d design program called Tinkercad a try. It's directed at young kids, but it walks you through the learning process and can do the job. Printers are pretty cheap now but around the 300$ range you can get one that is not much harder to use than a color printer from Bambu Lab. I will warn you that they are very addictive

Letting you know, Randy!

Maybe in a Mego scale or somewhere in between 1/12 and Mego/FTC? That way it still works close enough with the 1/12 Batman AND the Lost in Space Trendmaster figures…

Or 1/6 scale…

Or whatever you want to make.🤪

Would LOVE to see THAT in a “Batman 66” comic book series!

I would love to have a Force Field Generator in 1/6th scale.

I will checkout Tinkercad. Thanks for the info!
