Batman reference on a British show - Antiques Road Trip

Post by dell »

There is a British show on my local PBS station called Antiques Road Trip. Two British celebrities (I almost never recognize them) go to antique shops each with an expert. They have up to 400 Pounds Sterling to spend in 2 days. At the end of the show they take their purchases to an auction and the pair that have the most money after the auction are the winners.

One celebrity and his expert found a life-size bust of Thomas More (famous English guy who did something a long time ago) in a shop. The one guy says something like, "And you can tilt the head back and the entrance to the Batcave opens". A rather funny moment.

The exact episode is season 7, episode 12.

My parents watch that show on a semi-regular basis - I wonder if they caught that episode. Hmmmm.

We watch it on a semi-regular basis too. We use it as filler when we want something on, but don't have to really pay attention to it. This was an interesting episode as both teams bought a number of items and at least one for each team did very well at the auction. Often, they watch their items sell for losses at auction and that happened in this episode too. It is interesting to see what some people think is valuable.

It's on both Brit-Box and I think Amazon Prime. It's amazing how many American shows are based on British ones. I've not watched it but I've seen the ads for it.
