Custom Robin costume for NYCC
Well, I tossed this together for my daughter for New York Comic Con. She surprised me some time ago saying she wanted to be Robin to my Adam West Batman. I made the shoes months ago, but since then I've been too crazy busy to devote the time I normally give such things, so I tried to think of a shortcut way to do it. Using Chuck and Lynne's fantastic Williams Studio 2 patterns/templates as a base, I threw together an unlined tunic, the main fabric of which is polar fleece. The cape and belt I had actually started YEARS ago for a friend who did batmobile appearances with me, who said he'd be game to do Robin, but then moved away. So the cape - which was actually a prototype made with seconds fabric, was partly done, and I finished it up, doing my best to hide the blemishes. And I just shortened and finished up the belt. I didn't have time to make trunks, so she'll just wear green dance briefs. I also found nice green leather gauntlet gloves for her to wear.
So, with apologies to those who have taken the time to do it right, here's my rush job Robin. Actually finished BEFORE the night before NYCC!
Cheers!
Rick

Well, my daughter's Robin costume got a last-minute pre-NYCC debut today. I had a batmobile gig in a local Italian-American Heritage Parade (formerly Columbus Day), and my daughter decided she wanted to go along as Robin. Smashing success! Absolutely beautiful fall day, an appreciative crowd, and my daughter loved wearing her costume. Great way to end the collector car season before the bat goes into winter storage!
