Ever Do Anything Bruce Wayne-ish?
I had to laugh the other day when I stopped by my mother's on the way back from a trip to Newport RI for the US vs Egypt Polo Match-- that's a really fun time and everyone in attendance dresses for it-- in my case I wore a polo shirt, a pair of linen pants, a linen blazer and an ascot-- they encourage fancy dress. My wife made me look like I lived under a bridge by comparison, so when we saw my mom and told her where we were coming back (in our fancy convertible) from she exclaimed "You are now living like Bruce Wayne!"
I do have to think that Adam's millionaire style plays a part in my opinion on how a grown man should dress, because even though I work from home I seldom am not wearing a collared shirt or a pair of nice pants. At Christmas we attend a party at the mansion of a good friend of ours where Billionaires (and I didn't mistype that B) are among the mix-- fancy string orchestra, servers, and even a gentleman at the door who announces you as you come in and I feel right at home. It doesn't hurt that I'm accepted and often get some great stock tips while I'm there.
So I wonder-- anyone else influenced by Adam's Millionaire style?

Well, I don’t buy pre-distressed jeans. Does that count, Andy? Also, I occasionally do my “Thurston Howell III” impression: “Good heavens! He’s not even a Yale man!”

Sometimes I sit in the living room and encourage my kids to keep plugging away at their homework or their piano lessons while I relax with a book.
Also I often talk about going fishing without actually getting around to it.
That's about it.

"You were right again, Batman. We might have been killed."
"Or worse."

1) I insist that my friends never refer to me as Dell, but rather Millionaire Dell.
2) I made my butler legally change his name from Jose Ortega to Alfred Pesoworth (OK, I had to compromise a little on the last name). He still gives me dirty looks.
3) My wife and I set up a charitable foundation, but she wouldn't let me call it the Dell Foundation.
4) I refer to my house as Stately Dell Manor
Well, one of those is true. I'll leave you to guess which one.

More classic comedy, Dell!
So, it isn’t just ice cream that can claim the title of
“good humor.”

My first phone in my room was the big desk phone of the era, I asked the guy putting it in if it comes in red
It did!!! I wish I still had it, when I moved out of my moms house in 1987 I didn’t think to take it

A year after first mentioning it here, following major delays in having work done on my house, I'm still considering going against all common sense (and safety issues) and installing Bat-poles (down to the basement) in a wide/shallow closet with pull-out shutter-like doors in my main bedroom.
That's maybe more Bruce Wayne than the question intended...

I figured my wife would have vetoed it when we built our house, so I never suggested it. And I'm not sure if building codes would have allowed it. I'm pretty everyone here would love to see photos if you do it.njboywonder wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 10:03 am A year after first mentioning it here, following major delays in having work done on my house, I'm still considering going against all common sense (and safety issues) and installing Bat-poles (down to the basement) in a wide/shallow closet with pull-out shutter-like doors in my main bedroom.
