“The Entrancing Dr. Cassandra”
Season 3, Episode 25
Dr Cassandra fired her Alvino-ray gun, at Batman, Robin & Batgirl taking away their 3-Dimensional forms and making them as flat as cardboard picture boards. With the Terrific Trio immobilized. Cassandra and Cabala then steal a diamond and escape.
I have several projects going all at once and they are all in different stages, but I I have been working off and on making this for over 1 1/2 years so I'm happy to be finished with it. I love doing these things, but I'm far from a perfectionist and if they hang around too long, I will lose interest in them.
I found as many screen captures as possible and began figuring this thing out. After creating overlay sketches and doing some research, I figured out this was based on an Eveready Captain flashlight. They made several sizes of these with different lengths and different lens sizes. I purchased one, but decided I would rather 3D design and print the whole thing than modify my vintage light. I figured it would be more fun that way and I have a love of old things and don't like the idea of destroying it. I found the acrylic clear tube on Amazon and had a friend laser cut the fins and lens out of clear acrylic for me. I was praying I would be able to glue all of these different acrylics and the 3d print handle to the tube, etc. and was happy with how it turned out. I Photoshop the lens design and made a decal sticker and added chrome vinyl details. I allowed room for batteries and wiring, but never went through with connecting it before assembling. I pretty much hate even simple wiring and lighting stuff. I need to check my measurements again. I may have the handle a little long and may go back and trim it down. I think I planned on making the cap go over the end shaft and ended up making it attach to the end and it looks a little long now. It looked more accurate in the 3D art.
As far as I know this is the only prop recreation of this that I am aware of. I have slowed down on making these props, but I plan on getting back into it. I think this is my Bat prop #83!

Fantastic work!
There's something extra fun about using 3D printing to build a weapon that renders targets 2D.

Randy, incredibly fun and inspiring work, as always.
I had assumed that the four color lens on the end was a trimmed down Christmas color wheel, like they used to have aimed at the Christmas trees back in the 1950s and 60s. That familiar blue, red, green and yellow pattern was the tip off for me. Maybe it could have been cut down from one like this:

I think your 100% right. That's what I pictured too.
I love the props from the show. They are always fun to try and figure out what they were created from. I have thought about starting a thread sharing what I've learned in one place.

Very cool. I have always intended to make a little version for my 8" custom figures!
"Holy nostalgia, Batman!"
