I had those Marx figures-- loved them and the Monsters. Simple times, simple toys.

So did I. Also, real skill.

It's an impressive program , and I don't mean to single out the OP, but as someone who heard the call to be an artist, and did it, watching a program like this destroy multiple industries without a thought kinda bums me out...

And to those that think that AI somehow "democratizes art"... It was always available to you if you did the work.
It just steals from those of us that did.

I'm off my soapbox now... Enjoy...

I still don’t trust AI. Have never used it. I currently have no intent to do so. Still prefer to draw by hand.

I loved reading comic books as a boy and teen in part because they we’re inviting, even approachable. If you were artistically inclined, you had a sense of “I can do that” with regard to the artwork. If you were not, you had a sense of “I can relate to that.”

Even much of the computer aided art just lacks that relatability and “warmth.” In my opinion, it’s what has killed off comic books as just a fun pop culture medium that you purchased, read while eating your after school snack, then put down and went outside to play.

I truly understand. I am a commercial sign and logo designer going on 40 years now and I also have a fine art career, so I too am part of the industries that you are talking about. AI is crazy and its scary but it's here and only going to grow. I do think that the opportunities to really benefit from it will be in its beginnings. Currently, I see it as another tool just like my 3D printer, my projector, tracing paper and such. They are all tools to make stuff easier to accomplish something, but I know I don't have to rely on them. I am also proud of all of my years spent drawing and studying the figure, sculpting, painting, carving etc. and I pray that they will continue to help me to pay my bills. I have neon bender friends that have great skills, and they were all put out of work because of the LED lights. Also, my company is looking into more automation in our shop to limit even more employees. I think in the near future, all signage as we know it now will be gone and replaced with led video screens that can change a logo or color on demand. I have five other family members working in sign companies and they could all be affected if technology advances and the jobs go away.

AI will potentially replace us along with writers, Actors, Video game designers, musicians, maybe sports stars and on and on. It's here and we can't stop it. Hopefully it will open other new doors, and the general public will still recognize and want "homemade".
.
BTW, my company purchased and put up large Christmas scenes across all of our cubicle walls and after looking at them awhile, I could tell they were all AI generated art. Boooooooo!

It has replaced a lot of jobs already.
Not as a " just another tool in the toolbox", but to replace the the mechanic holding that toolbox.

By the time "hopefully" arrives, the foundational structures of many arts and crafts will have been destroyed so "hopefully", you really never wanted anything except regurgitated ideas and products.

When you have lost work to scans of your own work by a company that underbid you like I have, it's less about "hopefully" ... Now it's just watching it all swirl around the bowl as hacks continue to prosper.

I still survive, but it's sad to think future generations won't have the same opportunity.

I just burnt my soap box ...

Let's avoid discussing and debating the impacts about AI on the board and this post, please. This does not mean people can't share what they are playing around with. ie: No AI shaming. Do not respond to this notice on the thread. Send a PM instead.

😃👍 if they had released this back in the 60s, they would have sold them out. Great paint job, Randy! How did you get those eyebrows painted?!

Eyebrows done on 1st try with a crazy haired brush. I used only a few hairs sticking off.

My oil painting skills gave me a steady hand and I never throw out a brush because they can always make their own marks. 😆

Btw, I found an irradescent clear acrylic that gave the blue a cool satin look.

It should. If you can’t get a good photo of them from the Batman series, you might be able to from “Our Man Flint.”

A lot of old school meters and knife switches.

I made some prop meters for our Munsters Halloween party last year.
