Well here is some more progress pictures on the build these will be the last pictures I post non painted.
Starting with the next posting all pictures will be in color!

Here you see the top catwalk with more detail added also I have placed four guider legs on there for two reasons. One to make the placement of the legs easier and removable if needed. Two to get the top catwalk up off the table for painting the red detailing.

Image

Here's another angle of the top catwalk.

Image

Here the top catwalk kind of looks like an oil rig!

Image

And here's a top view of the top catwalk as you can see I have the holes for the railings drilled already.

Image

And now on to the second catwalk here is a picture of the bottom side of it with detailing added just like the top catwalk accept I chose smaller pieces to simulate boards going across. After all in reality the catwalks were made of boards most likely scaffolding boards as that is what the railings were made from.

Image

And here is a view of the top of the second catwalk with the holes for the railing drilled.

Image

Well that is all for this posting I may work on it some more tomorrow (Labor Day) as I am getting anxious to get the main part on it's legs where I can start the process of getting the railings put on which I am going to do totally different than the last time. I was never satisfied with those railings they looked bad and would not have painted well there was too much glue on the bonding points.
I have a way to fix that that I will be trying then after that we will be back to square one where I left off before and then I can concentrate on the lower half. I wish everyone a safe and happy labor day holiday.

And here are a couple views of the underside of the second catwalk.

I hope to finish painting the top catwalk this weekend I will post more pictures of that.
We are getting very close to getting the legs back on the AP. :D
Stay tuned as always any and all comments good or bad are always welcomed.

Here is another progress update on the build.

In this view you see the top and second catwalks test fitted into the legs before painting the legs.
I had to drill mounting holes in each leg to screw the second catwalk to it here I just have some bits of solid tubular styrene temporarily holding the catwalk on it will be replace with screws when I assemble it.

Image

Here is the whole assembly standing on it's legs (Finally!)
I still have the top of the top catwalk to paint and the legs but that process has started.

Image

And yet another view of the assembly.

Image

Here is the main assembly with the bottom part of the reactor in place just to see how it looks compared to the last version of the AP I made. This time there will be plenty of room for all the extras that make this thing so Iconic I made the right decision to enlarge the entire thin one and one half inch.

Image

Here is the main assembly with the upright posts for the railing in place.

Image

And here is another view of the AP with the railing posts in place.

Image

I hope to get the legs painted and the top of the top catwalk painted this weekend as well.
If I can get that done it will be time to assemble the main part for hopefully the last time.
I apologize for some of the pictures being a little fuzzy I will post better pictures next time.

Stay tuned as always any and all comments good or bad are always welcomed.

Wow! That looks amazing!
Apologies for a stupid question - but have you designed it to match a certain scale? (i.e. 1/9 or 1/6, etc) to align with specific figures / Batmobile sizes?
Just love it!

Terry that is not a stupid question I love it when I get asked questions.
I know absolutely nothing about scale I am just winging it and hoping it will look good with the 1:18 scale bat mobile that I have to buy again I had two of the base grade Mattel brand bat mobiles when I first started this a couple of years ago but sold them to my son's friend.

I am looking at the Elite edition I would like to have the super Elite edition but way too much money! :(

Well guys I finally have the main part of the AP painted and assembled!
Here are plenty of pictures I hope you enjoy.

Here is a view of the entire assembly.

Image

And another view.

Image

And here are several views of the legs I achieved what I was going for with the lines that make the legs look like ductwork and not a piece of PVC pipe.

Image

Image

Image

And here is a view of the underside of the catwalks this came together wonderfully I am so happy with the results.

Image

Here are a couple of views of the tops of the catwalks and how they came together.

Image

Image

Image

Well now that the main part of the AP is on it's legs the next thing is the railings. Here are a couple of pictures of my jig I made to paint the railings as they must be painted before they are assembled.

Image

Image

This will keep the railings suspended so I won't have any marks from laying them down on a box when I paint them.

Well that's all for this weekend I hope I have given you plenty to digest I know I am plenty tired from doing it.
So guys if you enjoy this please comment that's what keeps me going.
Thanks to all those who comment weekly you do not know how much that means to me.
So until next time I hope you do not get choked when you Swallow this Pill! (That was always a funny part of the show that pill was as big as a ping pong ball!) :D

Can anyone tell me if the scenes from Smack in the Middle on blue ray have any better shots of the Atomic pile?
If someone could post screen shots from that episode from the blue ray discs I would be so grateful.
I am concentrating on detail and I need better quality photos especially of the panels on the second catwalk.

Can anyone help me out Please?
