I originally had VHS tapes that were as good as you could get in the 80's. Then I eventually got hold of the uncut dvd's out there and I thought they were really great when I had an analog tv set. Now that I have a nice HD tv they look horrible on it. It is interesting that inferior quality looks so much better on analog but with HD all the imperfections are painfully obvious. I can't imagine getting an officially released complete series hopefully in Blu-ray or if not dvd. I think I will be amazed by the sharpness.

Also I want the episodes to start with the abc intro then into the Batman shot with the pink background, then a completely uncut episode. I want all the extras possible. I honestly think that after the hassle and money involved in getting this out, that they are going to go big. They know it is going to be a commercial home run.

I'm convinced it will happen, but I'm skeptical about how good the extras will be. I doubt there will be any bloopers or deleted scenes, but certainly would love to see them. I hope they do the right thing and interview Adam, Burt, Julie, Yvonne, etc.

Here's one thing that wouldn't cost much and I hope they can include, but of course, it requires even more cooperation between Warner and Fox.

I have a five-DVD set released by Fox in 2007 called The Joan Collins Collection. (Shocking I would own that, right?) The set consists of five of Joan's Fox movies in the late 1950s, when she was a contract player for the studio. Anyway, one of the extras is a montage of vintage Fox stills of Joan, including promo pix from the films, behind the scenes production pix and even some 'wardrobe test' shots in which Joan posed wearing outfits she would have on during the films.

How great would it be to see an original test pic of Julie Newmar in costume for the first time, or Joan for that matter? I'll bet there are many great vintage still pix we've never seen that still are in the Fox vaults somewhere.

There are outtakes out there somewhere? Any links to them?

Szabol wrote:So far, few studios have released season or boxed sets of TV series from the 1950's or 1960's on blu ray. I know the next generation Star Trek episodes were painstakingly remastered to get blu ray. That said, this would be a great series for it - the prints look so crisp. I wonder if there is any work done before all the signatures are in place, or do they wait for everything to be square before any work, particularly restoration or enhancement work begins.

by the way, Detective Comics #27 - The Case of the Chemical Syndicate released by DC Comics on May 1, 1939, so May 1 is 75 years. It may have hit stands a couple of months earlier, but who knows....
Shortly the only way to get new releases of a tv series/film for a DVD will be in the Blu Ray/DVD dual format release from the major studios. As far as this series goes I would expect a Blu Ray release because they will be remastering, cleaning these ups, and doing a brand new transfer just for this release.
As far as the 75th Anniversary for Batman D.C. Comics decided to celebrate it January 8th, 2014. Detective Comics #27 Vol. 2 according to D.C. Comics is the official 75th Anniversary issue.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I keep going back to read the TV Shows on DVD.com post confirming the show is coming, just to make sure it's real. Still can't believe it. Since the dawn of TV programs on DVD sets (the first of which I believe was the X-Files Season 1 in 2000), I've wanted Batman in that format.

Amazon now has up links to sign up for notification when the product becomes available. There are links for DVD

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HX2RRW2

and blu-ray

http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Complete-B ... est+batman

I know Amazon does have these up for a lot of movies that aren't in planned release but this is the first time I've seen links for the 1966 Batman show. The DVD has already been assigned an Amazon ASIN, so hopefully that is a good sign.

Does anyone actually believe there's a chance these don't come out?
Has there ever been an instance of a studio announcing a DVD/Blue Ray and then not having it come thru?
It's been announced, legitimately and with certainty by both WB and DC Comics, not to mention Adam and Burt confirming it themselves. I know there have been false starts in the past, as most of you know I was hired for the Cokumbia House VHS releases that never materialized but this is a whole different animal.

These are coming out, on Blu Ray and DVD in 2014.
I've personally held off on buying a blu ray player but this will get me to take the plunge.

I am guessing all three seasons at once, if only because Amazon solicited that way...

My bet is:

2 massive all seasons box sets- one "limited edition" Blu-ray set in some kind of fancy container for us crazy don't-care-what-it-costs types (ala the Walking Dead seasons 2 & 3 masterpieces) , and "regular" box sets (both a DVD and a Blu-ray) for the cost conscious crowd.

I want a set that is packaged just like the old ideal bat cave set, only this time with the real details and all the bat gang complete as army men type figures plus a Batmobile!

Sorry to say, but Amazon has had those listings as "place markers" for years. I signed up to be notified in 2002, and I can't tell you how many times Scott has had to tell someone that started a thread about that lol. But no need to fret. To answer Andy's post--yes, of course they're coming out. No tricks this time. But there are doubters out there living in Missouri.

That would be killer, Andy!

I would also go for a set that came in the Shakespeare bust, and you tilt the head back to get the discs (like season two Blu-rays of TWD).

"Gordon's Batphone in the cake saver" box set would be killer as well- especially if it lit up and beeped... :)

I don't care what the box or packaging looks like as long as the quality of the DVDs is as pristine as possible.

There were some rights issues over The Man from U.N.C.L.E. The first season of it was announced and was already up for pre-order on Amazon, when there was some sort of controversy over the rights and it was pulled. A few months later the Time/Life complete series set was announced. I don't remember for sure who announced the first season to begin with. I think it might have been Anchor Bay.
