Anyone know who made this face plate for the McFarlane 1:1 cowl?
Saw this McFarlane 1:1 cowl for sale on eBay in the United Kingdom.

Just was wondering about the resin face plate. It doesn’t look like Chuck’s sculpt and was wondering if anyone knew who made it? It kind of looks like Adam when he was older. Possibly made off of a life mask?

The pic is too small to really see it (at least for me), I seem to recall someone making a 3D scan of Adam's face when he was older, around the time he did the photo shoot with Wally in what I think was Adam's last appearance in a Batman costume.

That is a !@#$#@!! knock off of my sculpture that has been reported to Ebay.
It's a pair of thieves in the UK...
I have reported them before...
The gap between the face and the cowl has been filled and made to look like flesh.
Here you can see how the face actually fits in that cowl.
If they knocked off the cowl, they will be in even more trouble...

According to the listing, they bought it from someone else and paid “a pretty penny” for it. The cowl is definitely a McFarlane (it even has the display box as well as the shipping box).
Why on earth would they take a great face plate and mess it up to make Adam look fatter and older? Must’ve been made by the same people that did the knock off of the Hallmark “to the Batcave” ornament.

The "I bought it someplace else" is a way to get around recasting.
Fortunately I spotted them trying to sell my sculpture early enough that I was able to shut it down before they sold it.
I've reported them dozens of times and dozens of times it's pulled.
They actually contacted me a bitched about it! LOL! "Everyone else does it, why are you picking on us?" was their defence.
This is just one more way they are trying to sell my work.
Having my copyright registered makes them take it more seriously on Ebay but these idiots keep trying...

WOW! It takes a huge sense of entitlement and a whole lot of gall to assert that as a “defense.”

Good for you Chuck!
There is a guy on Ebay who has for years been selling recasted masks from Don Post Studios. He says in his ads he got them years ago and cant remember from who. Yet he always comes up with new copies to sell which says he's lying and still cranking them out.
Years ago i obtained a few blank, unpainted copies of some Don Post masks that were no longer in production. They were obtained legally from a member of the Post family who made a few copies for collector friends. A while back i decided to sell them on Ebay and this same recaster immediately started bidding on them. I pulled the auctions, for which Ebay charged me the same as if they had sold, rather than let this guy get his hands on them.
Now that DPS is gone and the molds have been sold to collectors around the world i guess it doesnt matter as much anymore. Meanwhile this guy is still selling on Ebay and now Etsy too.

Thanks!! If I hadn't sculpted this and had a clear copyright, I doubt Ebay would be as willing to do anything.maniac cop 5 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 23, 2025 1:42 pm Good for you Chuck!
