Usually by this time of year I am so sick of comic cons you can't get me to go to one-- and have a tiny one at a Craft Beer place (I really hate craft beer) and you may as well make a garlic rug and invite Count Dracula over. But #2 son was doing the show with his vintage comic biz, it was a nice Sunday-- nice enough to put the top down on the convertible and Mrs Fish was stuck on a deadline so I decided since there wouldn't be much more opportunity for top down driving this year to make the hour long jaunt.

#2 son had sent me some pics of items he saw at the show-- some 1940s Frankenstein Comics, some Golden Age Superhero books, normally with a show this small he's already raided the entire show so I just look through the pile of what he bought and buy something from him. After saying hello to him and a few other dealers I know well I stumbled across a 1965 Brazilian Batman Comic Book that #2 son had missed.

I know many of you who follow me on IG have already seen this one, but I thought I'd post some fresh pics as well as a look at the insides;

Like most foreign editions the insides are black and white, but I have a growing collection of them, and recently Heritage Auctions did a Foreign Comics auction and prices went bonkers so collectors are starting to appreciate them.

Not Batman related but here's a foreign edition of Spider-Man #3 I got recently;

Not only is the #3 my favorite cover of the Ditko run, and I own a couple of the American ones, this one really struck me because of the vibrant coloring.

Always love seeing comics from other places, especially their versions of American titles and characters. Thanks, Andy.

Had a busy and expensive week-- managed to pick up a few great vintage items-- first up from 1949 in Brazil-- this is the ONLY example of comics representing either of the Batman serials that I'm aware of- I'm going to send it in to a skilled person who can give it a clean and press to help it out. Like the other Brazilian Batman Comic above, I'd never seen this one before.

I've long wanted one of these South American "Batmobiles" and I finally found one in nice enough shape-- they come in a variety of colors but I've only previously seen black, blue and orange before-- the red really called me and under UV light it glows.

And I stumbled on this and made it a high quality giclee print, should be here shortly.

NOW I go on a spending freeze, Turkeys are like $70-$120 up here and then Christmas rolls around

Andy, the 13th Dimension featured another Brazilian Batman comic (number 6) which featured a different photo cover from the serial. (While this is a lower issue number than yours, the year of publication given is 1953!?) There’s also a photo of a cool 1966 Batman TV cover from Japan!

Something else for you to add to your collection when you find them? After Christmas!

Yup, gonna have to find that one. 1953/54 was the first re-release of the Columbia serials so I wonder if that has any connection?
The inside of the one I got is just reprints of American comic books.
I have the Batman Manga - got that on my last trip to Japan. Currently planning another excursion for next Fall.

Love it all Andy but I really like that plastic Batmobile. Cheap plastic stuff makes me happy.

Oddly, I found an online photo for issue number 10 in the Brazilian Batman comic series which uses the same photo for the cover as your issue number 53, Andy! From the blurb in the box, it includes photos from the movie serial, so your observation about the re-release of the movie serial in 1953 possibly being connected to the use of the images on these covers that year would appear to be correct.

I’m guessing you’ll hunt that one down, too. Let us know when you find these for your collection, and share photos!
