1977 Thought Factory Posters
It took me many years and many dollars to finally assemble the set, but I'm very happy how they all look, some are better then others but as a group they are solid, sorry for the glare

It was Drew Struzan, but the powers that be had someone fix it , Not 100% sure who. Ive tracked down most of the other artist …. I think …

Those look great! I had no idea there were that many posters. Congrats on assembling the collection. Is one rarer than the others?

Andy Fish might be able to help with that question, but from my experience Thor and Shazam were tough to find at any price. Condition was/is a problem, even if it was never out of the rolled tube it came, very few are mint. My Spidey is the best condition, and the hulk was “supposedly” in a college professor office in Wisconsin that his kids sold after his death .Jim K, Bat fan wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 5:17 pm Those look great! I loved those things. Superman was my favorite. Batman was interesting: the cape struck me as too thin based on the light coming through it, but the effect of those whited out eyes showed how truly eerie and unnerving it would have been to see him in real life. I still have both, but in terms of "condition," they're in the "fixer upper" category with, oh let's say the Roman Colosseum.
Nice job finishing off the collection!

The memories! I remember the posters with great fondness. Batman was the best by far--just the kind of appearance one would expect in a more realistic Batman.Mike Mulitsch wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 8:58 am It took me many years and many dollars to finally assemble the set, but I'm very happy how they all look, some are better then others but as a group they are solid, sorry for the glare posters for forum.jpg

Mike, this is fantastic! I remember seeing ads for these way back then in some magazine, but I never actually saw any of them in any poster shops I would frequent in the late '70s. The fact you got, not just one, but all of them is really great.

Re: 1977 Thought Factory Posters
I remember reading the THOR one was the rarest and had the smallest print run-- which makes sense. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Shazam, Spider-Man and Hulk all had TV or movies around the time of this release.
I had a Batman one and a Superman one (i've always been a closeted Superman fan) but that was all, at the time I was probably the biggest Spider-Man fan in the world but I didn't like the art style at all-- it didn't fit the realistic look of Superman and Batman. Same reason I passed on Shazam and the Hulk back in the day.

Curiously enough found the original sketch for the Spider-Man poster at, of all places, the 66batman message board!

I like it so much more than what they did.

And I'll stop hijacking the thread, but I also found the original painting by Struzan for Batman-- it's owned by a private collector.
You can see some differences, like the light on the left chest shoulder area as if Batman was in a room with blinds.
