Kevin Conroy RIP

Post by BAT 77 »

Sad to hear of the death of Kevin Conroy, THE voice of the Batman for the past three decades. An actor's actor, and, by all accounts, a lovely human being.

Very sad news.
To many who grew up listening to him, he was THE caped crusader to millions.
His " Mask of the Phantasm" is still my all-time favorite Batman theatrical movie to date.
RIP Kevin, say hi to the Gray Ghost for me.

Batman, to me, was personified by only two men - Adam and Kevin. Now both are gone and, in a way, the character for me is now gone as well. Thank you, Kevin, for the great performance and the memories. I still recall way back in the summer of '92 first discovering BTAS when, while scanning through TV Guide (remember those days?), I saw it listed and gave it a look on TV. It was the first season appearance of Micheal Ansara's Mr. Freeze and I was hooked! Great memories... Safe journey, Mr. Conroy, in the next life.

This one hits hard.
I was very fortunate to be able to interview Kevin 4 times and I can confirm he was a true gentleman. He loved his fans as much as he loved playing Batman.
I also agree with Yellow Oval, Kevin and Adam are it.
My first chance to speak with Kevin I asked him about Adam. This was SDCC 2017 A little more than a month after Adam passed. Kevin told me
"Adam West is the kindest, most noblest gentleman I've ever worked with. He is a classy guy."
I have read similar quotes on social media today that echoed the same about Kevin.
He will be missed.

I was so incredibly sad to hear this news right after I arrived at work yesterday. It's profoundly sad to lose such a great human at only 66 years old.

Kevin really was my "other" Batman. No one has ever embodied such a well-rounded portrayal of the Batman character. BTAS continues to loom large not only in the canon of Batman but in the realm of popular culture itself, and rightfully so. Kevin's contribution to the character will continue to be one of the measuring sticks that every portrayal of Batman is measured against.

I had the pleasure of meeting Kevin with friend and board member Alex Zsolt a few years ago at San Diego Comic Con. We caught him right after doors opened one morning and before the masses had made their way from the floor up to the Sails Pavilion where the autograph guests are situated. With no line having had time to form just yet, the three of us had a great fifteen minutes of conversations before more of Kevin's fans arrived and started to queue. As everyone who met Kevin will attest, he was the kindest, most humble and a very gentle guy who was a sincere pleasure to be around.

Thanks for everything Kevin, you are already missed, Sir!
