And a great article it was.
Terrific points and it is an underrated story that I'd long forgotten about.
Highly recommend both the article and the story.

Well written article. Entertaining and informative, especially for me as I am not familiar with that period of Batman comic books. With only the occasional exception, my DC comic book reading was limited to the mid to late 1960s, back then. I think the last DC comic book I bought off the stand was Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane 105 (1970), which I would not have purchased but for being intrigued by the “reintroduced” Rose and Thorn character. As I got older, I enjoyed the golden and earlier silver age stories.
Well done.
Well done.

Thank you. 1982 through 1996 was a very experimental time for DC Comics, especially the years 1986 through 1988. Dick Giordano gave the green light to Bob Rozakis' 'Mazing Man even though he knew it wouldn't sell because they had "money to burn" due to the runaway successes of Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen. It was when I started visiting comic shops and was never more like a candy store to me as it was then. If anyone is curious and wants to peek into a time at DC that made Mortal Clay and many other stories possible, I recommend the following two books:BiffPow wrote: ↑Tue Nov 18, 2025 11:06 am Well written article.
