Marvel Megos

Post by rsaffle »

I'm having little kid flashbacks right now. I just received the new Marvel Megos from Disney. I have a good amount of the originals but it doesn't matter, I'm still smiling from ear to ear! My favorite toys for sure. Love having the boxes to put them back into. That was always one of my favorite parts. Just like the 12" boxed Gi Joe's.

Now I need a Slurpee Hero cup and to pick a couple issues off of a comic spinner rack and I'm ready to party! Gotta make sure Im home for Batman! 😆 So happy.

Hey Great buy. I have all the Originals myself but wanted to get these as well but can not find them. I know they are being sold through Disney, that sucks (limited Distribution). I tried going to the Disney store but could not find them. I'm wondering if they are already sold out.
Great Buy Lucky You. :) :D

Mego announced a sell date and then Disney dropped the ball and didn't do it on time. After going to the Disney site everyday for a couple weeks they announced the pre-sell was on a Sunday a few weeks ago. For some reason they took that info away after just a few days, but I went online that Sunday and the pre-sale did happen. A few days later Mego announced Disney sent out refunds to a lot of the people that pre bought them, making a lot of people mad, but I did get mine. I've seen pictures of stacks of them at the Disney Marvel store but I haven't seen them back on line yet. I did get 25% off on the pre-sale so I'm happy with my purchase. Btw, I bought 2 sets and they both arrived with box damage not caused by the carrier. :?/

I hope the rest of them become easier to purchase. It's maddening when they under produce. Good luck!

So glad to see another happy Mego fan here! I don't how I managed, but my order was accepted and I am thrilled to have them. I still have my original Spidey and Goblin, but to open fresh figures in packaging so close to the originals is a true flashback delight for the senses. I never had the bronze Spider-Man coin as a child, so the facsimile is a welcome bonus. Hopefully, Disney will order more so that the disappointed fans have another opportunity to obtain them without paying scalper prices. Good luck in obtaining the other sets!

I was one of the ones on there Sunday morning when they dropped, I got an order confirmation and then a few hours later a notice that the order was cancelled.
I ended up buying them through a Disney Shopper-- you pay a bit more but this person goes to the park and buys them and ships them to you.

I have all the original 50th anniversay figures Mego did, I passed on all the "fantasy 50" ones like Deadman and Dr Fate, and I wouldn't have bought Electro if I could have bought these individually-- I probably would have only bought Spider-Man. It was a big hassle trying to order through Disney-- if the next round is the Fantastic Four I'd probably just go through the Disney Shopper system again-- but other than that what's left for Marvel? Captain America, Falcon, Thor (never had him as a kid because I didn't know the character and he looked like a girl)?

I never had the Invisible Girl either and I wonder how they'd do the FF set since they seem to plan on adding a "fantasy" figure with each new round.

BUt at the end of the day, if they continue to make these a hassle I'm out. As I kid I had all of the DC Characters and then Spidey, Mr Fantastic and The Thing. Those are really the only ones I'd care about and not enough to jump through so many hoops.

I think Mego did 14 Marvel figures originally and I heard they have plans for 25 if they continue to sell. So that's 11 new figures. I'm mostly excited about the remakes and not the new. I'm still ready to put down my cash but I hope I don't have to go to a 3rd party to do it.

I bought two of the Marvel Mego 4-packs;I placed my order the second 11 a.m. on 12/22 hit, and my order was confirmed. My sets arrived via UPS last week, and I am very happy with the quality of the figures, packaging and the replica of the 1970s John Romita Spider-Man coin.

14 Marvel figures? I thought it was 13:

1. Spider-Man
2. Captain America
3. Iron Man
4. The Falcon
5. Green Goblin
6. Hulk
7. Lizard
8. Mr. Fantastic
9. Invisible Girl
10. The Thing
11. Human Torch
12. Conan
13. Thor

In any case, I'm hoping Cap, Falcon,Iron Man and The Hulk are reissued. I have an unpleasant suspicion a Wolverine figure will be added (as in the case of the Diamond Select box set over a decade ago), because that character is supposedly $ to any company...despite the fact the original Mego never produced the character as a figure.

I wasn't sure about Tarzan because he was under DC and Marvel comics among others.

Research shows he was DC in 73 when the Mego was released.

When you searched for them, what were the keywords you used, or better yet, a direct link?

Randy we should team up-- I have ZERO interest in the new ones. I don't care about Thor or Invisible woman either.
Marvel can't do Conan this time around, they don't have the license anymore.

Lou I just used Google Image search and typed in Tarzan comics 1973. It only pulled up DC issues. Marvel Tarzan #1 came out 1977 based on Google Image search.

Tarzan definitely fell under the DC umbrella when Mego released him, while Conan was Marvels "version". Pretty sure, according to a great book on Mego, that they stopped making Tarzan by the middle of the line.

I've heard people say The Invisible Woman is really hard to find. ;)
