Val Kilmer RIP April 1, 2025

Post by Lou Szabo »

Val Kilmer passed away yesterday. Rest in Peace, Iceman. He played a good Bruce/Batman in the third movie, and was great as Doc Holiday.

I liked his take on Batman and Bruce Wayne. Movie wasn't great, but I thought he was a good pick.

I hope he got the chance to say, "This is funny..." before he went.

I remember watching him in “Top Secret” and thinking he was going to be a big star.

Interesting that, in his last Instagram post, he donned a Batman mask:

Far from my favorite Batman movie, I always have had a place in my heart for Val and 'Forever given that I saw that movie at such an impressionable point growing up. The one-sheet for Batman Forever was the very first poster I ever bought with my own pocket money to decorate my childhood bedroom. As an adult I ended up really enjoying Val's performances in almost everything I saw him in. Tombstone as Lou mentioned, Heat, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang to name a few. He will be missed.

Val was a better Bruce Wayne than Keaton. His movie career was ubiquitous with my childhood and even adulthood. I still quote Real Genius and Top Secret almost daily. He had a screen presence that is matched by only a few. He will be missed.
