Riddler trap: is "drive shaft" the correct term?

This is, obviously, the death trap from "A RIDDLE A DAY KEEPS THE RIDDLER AWAY." In the script it's referred to as a "drive shaft". That term makes me think of a very different piece of machinery inside a car. Is it an accurate term for the wheels that the Duo are strapped to? Just what are these contraptions?

Not what I would call a Drive Shaft by a mile.
I'd say it's more a vent shaft fan-- if we're trying to stay close to the terminology they used.

Giant pulley on the end of a driveshaft, maybe?

It was belt driven, not direct drive.
