I thought it laughable that they always appeared at a point in time and space where everything is about to go wrong. Not once did they ever get to land where nothing was urgent or dangerous. Never someplace fun. No, they land on the Titanic or in Nazi Germany or at Ford’s theater just before Lincoln is assassinated.

But, hey, it had Lee Meriwether, Burroughs B-205 computers and that cool set.

I'm a fan! I've been thinking about making a Tunnel model.

Thanks for sharing this Lou. I've become quite a big Time Tunnel fan over the last ten years or so and once the Blu Ray set came out, it assisted massively in our research of the Fox back lot and Batman filming locations as it gave us alternate angles and views on different exteriors, particularly "French Alley".

Well, Allen once remarked something to the effect that if he did not blow the world up in the first few minutes, then the show was a failure. Perhaps the best episode of The Time Tunnel was "The Day the Sky Fell In", where Tony & Doug land at Pearl Harbor hours before the attack, giving Tony time to reconnect with his father before the latter's death in the attack. a major change of pace of the series, as it had nothing to do with the usually ridiculous "science" tossed around on Allen TV series, instead focusing on the human side of a story.

BTW, part of the clip is from the 1995 TV special The Fantasy Worlds of Irwin Allen, which was supported by GNP / Crescendo's similarly-titled CD box set released in '96.

Allen fans were hoping a book covering the same ground would have been released to coincide with the TV special, but fans would need to wait over 20 years before Jeff Bond's massive, coffee-table book gave everyone as much Allen content as they would ever want. Its out of print, but its worth the secondary market price.

I always wondered if Tony and Doug kept managing to find convenient laundromats over the hundreds of years. Wearing the same clothes through all those adventures can get a little rough! Maybe that falling and swirling was really them tumbling in a cosmic washing machine? :P

I, too, will look for the coffee table book - assuming it's not too expensive. It amazes me how much of these kinds of books always go straight out of print and then one can't get them except through third-party pirates.

Good luck finding one. I looked yesterday with no luck. One sold on Ebay recently for about 180$ and one in July for over 200$ so they do come up if you keep looking but they are not cheap.
