Hey Batfans...
So if I'm right to assume that there will be no more new 1966 Batman 6" figures, then I want to try to make a couple of my own. Since the figures are in line with DC Universe Classics articulation, I wanted to start there and figure out how to make a King Tut with existing parts and a coat of paint.
Hopefully some of you are familiar with the DC Universe Classics figures.
Body base: Desaad - The body is mostly encased with a full-body robe including long billowing sleeves on the arms and bare hands. I fear he won't look quite bulky enough, but maybe with extra costume parts on top he will be okay? The robe can be painted white for the underlying part of Tut's costume...
Cape: For Tut's red cape I stayed in line with the Batman 66 line, and found a soft goods red cape with a gold piece sewn around the collar area, from a Batman Begins Ra's Al Ghul movie figure (an early 5" toy line and the figure of the stand-in Ra's, not Liam Neeson). The cape is PERFECT!
Belt: The gold belt with the long extending piece I was thinking of taking from the Lord Naga DCUC figure. It may need a wider belt band over it, but the long hanging piece can be painted in as much detail as needed to be more show accurate. Although... the Naga belt's hanging piece looks more like cloth than a solid flat bejeweled hanging piece. Maybe I need to think of something else?
Collar-piece: A round golden collar piece can sit over his shoulders on top of the red cape, and there are two such pieces in DCUC figures, one being from the El Dorado figure, and one from the Golden Pharaoh figure. Golden Pharaoh might be easier to separate because the El Dorado collar is connected to his belt piece. So probably will go with the Golden Pharaoh figure. He also comes with a scarab-like staff that Tut could use!
Staff: Naga also comes with a long snake-headed golden staff. I know Tut never carried one, but given the serpent/asp imagery King Tut was prone to use, I thought it would be a good fit!
Necklace: Tut wore a scarab necklace and there is one included with the DCUC Black Adam figure. It seems a little oversized compared to the one I see on Tut, but I'm sure it'll be fine. Might make him look bulkier.
Needed pieces:
-The purple sash he wore over his shoulders (but under his collar-piece and red cape) with the gold snake pattern on it. Need to figure out if there's something I could use that is hard-goods that I could paint the snake on.
-The head: I would love to start off with a round-looking head and hopefully figure out how to add his cloth and headband on and a beard, but it all comes down to face and expression. Any ideas? Would love a sneering smirk also.
-Gladiator-sandaled feet: The Desaad figure that I plan to use for the base body has gladiator-like boot cuffs/straps that work, but also has a full booted foot. I'd love more of a sandaled foot to replace the boot but can't seem to find anything in the DCUC line that would be compatible. Any suggestions?
Hoping some folks can help!
