Robin Costume for my daughter - finished
Hi,
I haven't posted in the Bat Crafts section before, because I've had nothing to show. I have now.
My eldest daughter wanted to go to the London Film and Comic Con in Costume. As a huge '66 fan, I persuaded her to go as Robin. I decided I would make the costume myself, rather then buy one. I used Lynne and Chucks patterns that I got a while ago (but never intended to do anything with).
Now, this 'build' involved several firsts for me. It was the first time I had used a clothing pattern, sewn anything other then a button, used a sewing machine, cut fabric, installed grommets, dyed fabric…etc. So I pretty much build this as a complete newbie to costume making. I'll admit there were some terms on the pattern instructions I was unfamiliar with (google solved that) and there were a couple of steps that made no sense to me at all, so I went 'my own way'. I had to resize the pattern as my daughter is 'a bit' smaller then Burt was. I made the mistake of reducing the pattern pieces by a uniform 85% - which meant it came up a little short, but overall, I was impressed with my first attempt.

WOW!!! That came out GREAT!!!
For a novice stitcher, this is very impressive work.
I would have killed for a costume like this when I was her age!
WELL DONE!!!

I actually spotted your daughter and mentioned it was cool to see a Burt Ward, Robin on Saturday afternoon at the con! I wish I had realized that you were a board member!

Great job on what is a challenging project, even for an experienced stitcher!
Kudos to you for pulling it off with flying colors!
Nice to see my "Kapow!" making the rounds!

Yes, thanks for the files. Much appreciated. I was surprised just how much of a positive difference something like that can make. They really top the costume off.rickrickrick wrote:Nice to see my "Kapow!" making the rounds!

Great work--I would have loved a costume that spot-on when I was a child.
Again, great work.
Again, great work.
