I still want to know why he did not use the correct logo on the Batcopter's fuel tanks? To me, it makes the copter look totally fake, when we all know it isn't. Anyone care to answer this question?

Yes. Eugene had told me at one point that he and the group of people who were involved in the restoration in 1997 decided on the logo based upon the overall look and thought it was good and well defined. Now, post internet resources, Blu rays and DVDs of the movie, we're a bit more educated about the details and some scrutinize a bit more. It still looks great, it's out there and people are enjoying it. Maybe someday if it has to go through another paint job, re-detailing or whatever, the group involved may return to this detail and decide whether or not they want a less slick but more accurate decal on the tank.
Kudos to Eugene and company for bringing it out again and again.
Looks like George Barris & Eugene Nock had a good time at the Cobra Productions event in Hollywood, FL last weekend. I also want to say, there's nothing like flying in The Original Batcopter. Once you do, you're hooked!
In terms of the emblems history, the emblem that you see in the shots posted here is actually the second version that Gene has used on the copter. I first met Gene at an airshow out here in NJ not too long after he had started to tour with the copter. The emblem that he was using on the tank then was almost identical to what you see here. Except, he had added a very small wing tip point on the top side of both wings to either side of the bat's head. He said that the purpose of the extra point was to alleviate any copyright issues with Warners.
