It also says the Blu ships on 11/10/14 while the DVD ships within 48 hours of 11/11/14.

Hmmmm.

If I was opting for the Blu I'd go through these guys, provided this Blu they're offering is the full blu set with all the extra junk or is this yet ANOTHER version of this release being offered?

Makes my head hurt.

I'm sticking with the DVDs for the simple reason I like the box better, and honestly for a 45 year old show they can only attain X level of clarity. I saw the DVD and the Blu side by side on two of the same TVs and they look so close I'm going to save the extra $20, plus as I said-- I like the box better and I'm picky about stuff like that.
I contacted Bullmoose and they confirmed that its the deluxe blu ray. I'm getting that one for the ultraviolet copy so I can watch it on VUDU.

Concerns about Amazon

Post by AndyFish »

I might have mentioned it in a post previously, I get a lot from Amazon and lately a lot of it has just been smashed or dented. I got the Universal Monsters Blu Ray Import from Amazon itself-- not a third party seller, and it came just in a padded envelope and the corners are all smashed in.

For that- I don't care all that much-- I'll just repackage them, but for Batman, well one of the reasons I'm getting the DVD over the Blu is the box is (IMO) nicer.

So I'm now thinking of jumping ship and cancelling my Amazon order to go with someone else, or just get it at a retail store on that Tuesday.

Wow-- so many options, head spinning......

If you have Amazon Prime, sounds like you do- they ship everything they can in a bubble mailer.

This box will be larger- I assume about the size of the recent Ben-Hur 50th, Wizard of Oz 75 big box collector sets. This set will most likely come in a box not a padded envelope.

Either way I canceled my Amazon and went with the 35.00/month option from Warners.

I love Amazon Prime for speed, but yeah, a lot of what I get from them looks like it was shot to my doorstep from a circus cannon.

If condition matters at all to you, I'd seriously consider another source. But if your only goal is to be "first on your block" with the set, it may be worth the gamble.

Nothing new, really, but it adds to the mounting anticipation for this release. Plus it's good to have confirmation Costco will offer it.

No mention of price.
Here's a link to that article online (synced to go directly to the correct page):

There's a 60 second clip of the death trap scene from "Catwoman Goes to College" embedded in the page, too, which is pretty awesome.

I am sticking with Blu-Ray all the way. Buying it at Best Buy so I can get the 6 month financing. Too much other stuff around the holidays so not having to pay $180 + tax in one payment is nice.

Wow! There must be some difference between the American and Canadian Amazon sites. Everything I order up here from Amazon.ca comes perfectly packaged in hard cardboard boxes with paper stuffing or bubble wrap. The Monsters set of which Andy speaks I have just received myself this past Friday and again, it was paper stuffed within hard cardboard. It was pristine. So was the 75th Anniversary blu-ray Wizard of Oz I bought a couple years ago. I can't complain about our .ca site with the exception that at times it can be more expensive and the selection of items is more limited than .com or .co.uk.

Is there any reason to question whether the discs themselves are any different between the regular blu ray release and the green boxed batmanondvd.com release? I'm considering dropping my Amazon preorder and going for the payment plan. I actually like the look of the green box better, and I'm not wild about the red box having an empty hole where the hot wheels Batmobile was removed.

Costco will have it. There is an article in the new Costco connection magazine.

I called Amazon today, well actually I had one of my assistants call, to complain about the recent rough shape of blu sets like Universal Monsters and to explicitly stress that I expect Batman to arrive in better condition. They not only refunded the UM Set (and told me to keep it) they took my order number for Batman and said they would guarantee I will have it on Nov 10th and that it will ship packed in a box, with a special number and extension to call if there was a problem with it and they matched the lower price Walmart.com had it for.

THAT is why I'm an Amzon Prime member. That and it's free for college professors.

I should have posted this earlier but I figured out a good installment pay plan with Amazon.com. Over the last three months I've been purchasing Amazon gift cards either online or at my local grocery store and applying them to my pre-order for the Batman set. I had it paid off about a month ago and now I just have to wait for it to ship. With the recent reductions in price, I am going to end up with over $5 in credit to use on another purchase.

I'm an Amazon Prime member and I would say that 90% of my orders come in cardboard and are well packaged. I was disappointed this last week when my most recent Star Trek book (I'm a collector) came in a bubble wrap lined envelope and was smashed into my mailbox. That's the first time that any of my Trek books have arrived like that. I would be really surprised if Amazon was reckless with the collectors box sets but if it doesn't come in pristine condition I will be calling and not emailing this time.

Hey.

I've not been following any of the many threads re: the DVD release as I didn't expect to be buying it. As I'm reconsidering, can someone simply note if pre-ordering via Amazon, as I see mentioned here often, offers the best price? Don't have a Blue Ray player so I assume that's the only question I need ask?

Thanks.
