FOCUS ON.... RIDE THE TSUNAMI / YOU AND WHO'S ARMY?
This installment showcased two villains from the 1966 Topps card series by artist Norman Saunders, the Sea Hag and the Tiger Shark. These suggestions were made on the Batman Forum by avid fan J.Elmer Graham who felt that they would prove worthy adversaries for the Dyanmic Duo.
The parts of the villains was simple;Pamela Anderson was always touted for the role of Sea Hag,an old looking lady who robs wealthy sea vessels of their valuables, only to "fall" overboard only to resurface from the depths a much younger woman. Clearly a disguise, the quick-change gave her scope to escape freely.A scuba expert, she was assisted by tiger-printed scuba criminal boyfriend Tiger Shark. Once "Pammy" was cast it was only natural that former co-star David Hasselhoff would play Tiger Shark, given their Baywatch roots.
Hasselhoff is credit as "the Hoff" in the titles, and this was a decision Matt Holme undertook as it added a little more humour to the episode,Holme admitting later he felt the 2-parter was lacking as much comical pieces as in the previous stories, despite jokes such as "Watch the Bay","You will never see me dead in a red bikini" and "A talking car?".
The main casting, was ,of course,Warehouse 13's Alison Scagliotti as Barbera Gordon/Batgirl. The heroine was billed as a visting hero in the credits, this being because Matt and the production crew felt that Batgirl should be a character who only occasionally appeared, thus Barbera was travelling and would visit her father,Commissioner Gordon frequently (and when she felt Gotham and the Duo could do with help).Scagliotti was another original choice for a role, and relished the challenge of taking the part, stating she couldnt wait to fill Yvonne Craig's shoes. The character kept with the change of hair colour in alter-egos and also her close relationship with Alfred, the only person to know her secret identity. Rumours that this episode was to provide a launch pad for a Batgirl spin-off were quickly refuted,as Scagliotti was still committed to Warehouse 13 and was promised at least 4 stories a season on Batman.
This move was similar to Aunt Harriet's guest roles, that of not being a regular. Harriet too appeared in this story, socialising with Warden Crichton's wife and Lindsay Lindseed.
These 2 roles were played by Dallas' latter cast members Cathy Podewell(Cally Ewing) as Lindsay Lindseed and Sheree.J.Wilson(April Stevens) as Clarissa Crichton.
The success of this story prompted Anderson and "the Hoff" to sign up as the villains again at a later date, Matt even hinting that they may not necessary be together.
The other villain in this story was seen in the pre-titles.Louie the Lilac proved to be a fruitless and unpopular villain from the 60s show, despite the fact that Milton Berle, arguably the funniest man at the time played the perfume and flower-based foe.Berle tried to play the role straight which effectively killed the character in people's minds,so Matt cast Lovejoy,Dallas and Deadwood's Ian McShane as Louie with the intention that if this sequence worked,he could return. McShane played Louie straight but with a hint of vanity and over-emotive which made the foe likeable, popular and more importantly funny.Matt got McShane to sign a contarct to return immediately.
It was just after part one that CBS/BBC announced that Batman was renewed for a second season,a move which prompted Matt to confirm that a few of his expected villains for season one would not appear until season two now, most notably Vincent Taggart aka the Clean Freak, the Editor,Daddy Long Legs, the Minstrel,Dr.Cassandra,Queen Bee,Bookworm,Poison Ivy and Egghead, however the Mad Hatter,Under Walter and Mother Nature were not mentioned.
Next up.....
He's waited patiently, but now he is waddling back into Gotham City, qwaccckkkk, qwaaaaackkkk

Very nice. I like it.

A quirkier take on the Absence foe. Will call the villain No Brainer. A 30 something female with a a hole thru her forehead where her brain is missing. She still survives (not tackled that yet!), but kidnaps geniuses to extract their intellect to add to 'Brian', her brain she is growing

Thank You,Old Chum.

My Batvillain would be The Chef (real name Roland Butter). He would steal secret recipes or rare ingredients and his Battraps will involve attemping to drown the caped crusader in cake mix, roast him in an oven etc. He would leave clues in the form of a recipe.

Name : Buzzsaw
Actor : Pierce Brosnan
Gimmick/weaponry : Has razor sharp saw blades attached to his hands which can extend out by pushing a hidden button in his glove. Buzzsaw is quite partial to antique jewlery and rare historical items.
