Did anybody else note this brilliant statement in the blurb?

The Batmobile was introduced into the Corgi range after the popularity of the 1966 Batman TV series starring Adam West (as Batman) and Dick Grayson (as Robin).

That's funny- I seldom notice anything having to do with Robin.

Corgi actually did make a vintage Batmobile with a silver chain cutter. So the silver chain cutter on the replica is historically authentic and screen accurate. So it looks like Corgi did use both silver and gold for the chain cutter.

Judging by the other replicas I've bought from them, I would think Corgi would be on the details-- thanks for confirming this.

That's astoundingly lazy-minded of those responsible for that copy. Burt Ward is as important / memorable to the 1966 series and its success as West, so it makes one wonder what the copywriter was drinking to screw up to this degree.

I'm probably biased because I wasn't a Burt fan when I was a kid and I'm not now, but I doubt its either laziness or a personal slight, more likely a last minute copy editing mistake. I'm glad they are re-releasing the car-- and I'm excited for it.

I'm glad they're able to do the rocket firing missiles, I was curious if that would be something that was now taboo- i.e. the whole debacle with the missile firing Boba Fett from Star Wars.

And if anyone is interested, this coupon code is listed as being good until Jun 22nd-- for 15% off-- I just tried it and ordered two more and it worked!

I guess I'm the type of guy that would make a copy edit like that, I read the quote and didn't see what was wrong. LOL

BTW, the coupon link above has already reached its usage limit. Probably because Andy has ordered 82 of them so far. :D

Ha- my bad! Here's the trick-- put the item in your cart and then don't check out-- 24-48 hours later they send you a coupon code. I don't think there's much of a danger of them running out.

Is anyone joining the club so they can get the Matte black version?

How much is the club? Im on the fence about it, I feel like just getting what they produce because thats what it was then, now if I could just get one from a grumpy lady from another dept with the key to the case way up on her forearm to unlock that bottom drawer and give it too me, only saw them in Sears store

You have to join the club for $20-- you get to pick one of three models of cars available, a race car, a police car and something else-- you get a TIN collectible plus a very cool repro of their 1966 Catalog-- I actually bought one of those for a decent amount of money and think its worth it for the nostalgia. Henry's Hobby Shop, which was where my Corgi's all came from would, would give you a catalog with every purchase. Henry was never grouchy and liked kids.

Apparently in 1966 during the first month or so that the Batmobile was released, they did a matte black version. As you can imagine on the secondary market those command huge dollars. If you're a member of the club in October you can order the Matte Batmobile.

As far as I can tell, the club works like those old Columbia House deals-- they'll send you that month's model unless you tell them not to. I'm going to hold until September and see how it all works, I'll be honest I'd be in for the Matte solely for the potential on the secondary market in 5-10 years. I bought a half a case of the gloss ones because like the 50th anniversary Megos (I bought TWO cases of those) I wanted to make a sort of art display out of what I remember seeing in the stores for nostalgia sake. The Megos and the Corgi Batmobile were my overall go too items as a kid. I would play with them to death and get new ones every birthday and Christmas.

I got the Lotus first, and my second car is The Saint's Volvo - lucky, because I wanted to buy that for a while.

How much are the car releases in the club, Lou? I was considering the Saint car myself.
