Australian Batmobile on Antiques Downunder

Post by Therin of Andor »

"Antiques Downunder" presenter, Claudia Chan Shaw, recently visited a working replica of the 1966 Batmobile, built from a kit. Displayed at Gilbert's Motor Museum, South Australia:

It’s such a kick to see one anywhere. Thanks for sharing, Ian.

She looks like she might’ve made a good Batman villainess. I could definitely see that look as the Black Widow.

Indeed! Claudia is related to a very good friend of mine! She also MC'ed another friend's art exhibitions.

So you know her well? BTW, video link isn’t working. Would be curious to see/hear her in “action.”

Only met Claudia a few times. (The link wouldn't work due to the questionable title of the exhibition!) It is an old blog entry of mine, not a video. Try cutting and pasting these two bits into your browser and then removing the three asterisks?

That worked! That would’ve been my kind of art exhibit to attend. Ian, I could see you creating some pretty incredible toy art with your imagination and one of a kind mods. Let us know when you have your exhibit!😊

Ms. Claudia makes for a striking hostess.

Thanks for sharing that blog.

In 2009, my friend Nick Stathopoulos had his first iteration of that exhibition!

You will never know how many times I almost bought it that night! Just before the second exhibition, I learned that only one painting went unsold that first time. I asked him which one, not even dreaming that it would be the Batmobile. It was! There was still a chance. The only thing that stopped me was a lack of large, vacant wall space at my place!

At Nick's second such exhibition in 2011, he brought the painting along to opening night, because someone else had had the same urge as I did, contemplating it over the years! SOLD!

I did buy one of these very cool Homepride Men at Nick's third similarly-themed exhibition, in 2013:
