Re: Corgi Club confirms Batmobile reissue in 2024

Post by Lou Szabo »

Just got an email from the Corgi Club in Europe that the Matte Batmobile is due in October, but the price when up £5

Some questions:
What does that mean in the USA (basically, how many $$$)
Will that be the club delivery in October?

Also they said the gloss black version will ship in October.

From the email
“ Next month sees the arrival of the Batmobile (October delivery) – a special matt black edition of Corgi 267 the FIRST EVER Corgi Batmobile that is EXCLUSIVE to members of the Corgi Model Club. Although we’ve been under intense pressure to sell this unique Corgi Batmobile to a wider audience, we’re sticking to our promise that it'll ONLY BE AVAILABLE TO CLUB MEMBERS.

For those that aren’t aware, the very first Corgi Batmobile was produced in October 1966 in a MATT BLACK finish. The rarest of all Corgi Batmobiles, it was in production for just six months before Corgi bosses realised the actual TV Batmobile was in a much glossier black finish! Corgi’s designers had apparently worked purely from photographs, assuming the car was matt
black. The realisation of the gloss finish caused some panic at Corgi’s Fforestfach factory near Swansea in Wales – resulting in it quickly being amended to a correct gloss black. This is the version most of us owned back in the day.

We’re over the moon to have been given permission to produce Corgi Model Club editions of both the matt and gloss black Corgi Batmobiles – with the matt version available to Club members at a generous saving of £10. This special price is our extra thank
you for your loyalty to the Corgi Model Club.

Because of the extra costs and the complexity of the model itself – which has all the fantastic features of the original Corgi Toy – the membership price for this model will be £29.99(€35,99). This payment will be automatically taken and rest assured your monthly membership price will immediately revert back to £24.99(€27,95).
This
For those that also wish to purchase the gloss black Batmobile, this is priced at £39.99(€47,95) and is available for pre-order from our website by clicking on this link.”

This just came in right after I posted the above. My Question was answered.

Stingray. It’s another Gerry Anderson show.

Of course-- there are so many of those I've never seen.

I grew up watching “Fireball XL5“ and had not seen “Thunderbirds.”

I recall thinking the theme song to “Fireball XL5” sounded like some ballad that might be sung by Frankie Avalon. Just seemed so very out of place. Sort of like how Billy Idol sang “Eyes Without a Face” like Perry Como (yet still sneering and pumping his fist as he sang it to try to convince us it’s a rebel song).

"I wish I was a spaceman
The fastest guy alive
I'd fly you 'round the universe
In Fireball XL5
Way out in space together
Conquerors of the sky
My heart would be a fireball, a fireball
Every time I gazed into your starry eyes"

FIREBALL XL-5 is streaming on PRIME-- its a fun show.

That’s it! Will look for it on Prime.

Doesn’t it sound like you could move directly into:
