#5 and Batcycle discovered in MI (possibly)

Post by Jimmy L. 66 »

My nephew installs alarm systems in the Detroit area and surrounding cities. Last Friday my morning constitutional was interrupted by a flurry of photos from the job he had that day. The Batmobile and Batcycle, along with a couple other movie cars. The owners told him that this is the # 5 and that it was featured in the movie ‘Rockstar’. He also said that the oil slicks worked but he had to have them capped off. I was delighted by the pictures but wondered if this is accurate information. Was the #5 in ‘ Rockstar’? Could this be it? I turn to the experts for clarification.

How about some of the Batcycle? He said this was not repro, but didn’t they cut it in half a repro the the other half to have 2 screen used cycles?

Is it what we traditionally call the #5 1960's build '58 T-bird mod Batmobile built by Jim Sermersheim ... NO!, was that #5 car in the movie Rockstar...NO!
The car you show perhaps could be Bob Butts build, the arch looks like a Don Currie build. There were 2 cars build for the movie Rockstar and one is/was owned by Dan Rodriguez in NJ. As far as the 2nd one, not sure what happened to that car. This bat appears heavily modified from the looks of the Rockstar cars so probably not.

I was wondered why they made the canopy frames black instead of Chrome like the TV show?

I never get tired of looking at this car in all of its forms. BTW, I found one for sell in Oklahoma yesterday for 160,000$
I would if I could! I hope to be driving one in heaven one day. :?)

As A Pennyworth said, it is definitely not the #5, which was a metal car built by Jim Sermersheim of Evansville, Indiana, using a stretched 1958 Thunderbird:

Fiberglass Freaks recently restored the interior of this car. :)

I’d take any, even one not screen accurate.

The original posted bat has been seen before as I have it in my interior montage.

According the lore as laid out by Clint Young, Butts built two cars for the movie "Rockstar". As AP mentioned, Dan Rodruiguez has had one of them since 2000, but is it possible that the car in question in this thread is the second "Rockstar" car?

It is hard to tell from these angles, but I don’t think that the arches match up. The beacon lights look different as welll. The back end we can see the oil slick are placed differently. Maybe I’m wrong
