We finished the restoration of the #4 Barris-built dragster Batmobile this past weekend. It has been an exciting project, to say the least. What do you think?
It's like traveling in time Mark! Except it's a parallel universe where the Barris team had the time and money for the best paint job ever!
The pin striping is the best I've seen. Now THAT is the Batmobile nose!
The scale of the stripe, that beacon and the matte rocket tubes just scream of the real Batmobile from the 60's I've seen in a million vintage photos.
I'm sure you had a blast doing the work in spite of the pressure on you.
A big CONGRATULATIONS to you and all involved for doing such a fantastic job on this piece of history!!!
WELL DONE!!!
Chuck...
Quick, Everyone, Flee for your lives, into the street!!!!
just awesome mark, now everybody go to fiberglass freaks and put your order in ,then go to williams studio and get your batman , robin, costumes two of the best co. ever!!
Amazing job, Mark. Would you be able to describe some of the highlights of the job, such as:
- what surprised you the most (positive and negative) once you started "digging" into the car?
- Which major areas were you able to restore/salvage and what did you have to scrap/rebuild?
- Had here been any restoration work done on the car prior to your job?
- Was there much of the original Barris-built interior left or had it mostly been changed over the years?
