This is an April fools Day Joke not in April which is probably the day the DVD will be released with everyone beliveing it to be a joke (and wouldn't it be the cruelest) no one will go to the stores leaving the dvd's unsold!

I am hoping for a Blu Ray as well, but unless they do a high quality transfer and do some post work, then it probably wont' be that good. To do it right, it takes time, that is why the blu rays of STNG look so good it's all about the money they want to spend on the process. The condition of the negatives, etc.
With all that said, I am pumped though.

My guess is they're not going to spend that much on doing all this transfer stuff you guys are talking about. Minimum expenditure, maximum return. Again: IMO.

Agreed. No doubt they will do a nice transfer, which should look good since the prints are usually pretty good for this series, but don't look for anything passed that. They won't spend the time on Batman that they would on a movie like Star Wars. Still, it should be nice.
You won't like everyone. Try to love them where they are at.

Re: Batman TV series DVD set in 2014!!
Widescreen Vs Full frame is going to be a slight dilemma for this fan.
When It comes to DVD I can tolerate black bars on the sides and if I want to and probably will I can put it on a theater setting, It doesn't cut much off and doesn't seem to stretch it if I put it on the right setting, It's a compromise.
When it comes to Blu Ray I find that I usually have black bars on the sides, top and bottom of the screen which makes it so I can't even get the frame as big as the full frame would be on DVD, not sure why, but I can't change that setting on my Blu Ray for full screen.
So for this fan widescreen Vs Full frame doesn't matter to me if were talking DVD, I'll work around it. For Blu Ray I would rather have it matted in wide screen, that said the thinner the black bar the better, whatever ratio that would be.
No worries though if you want the full frame, I would assume that it will be full frame and I'll have to compromise one way or the other, do they typically do widescreen for older shows?

Well the Lois & Clark the New Adventures of Superman and Wonder Woman DVD sets done by WB are all Full Frame Full Screen. Aspect Ratio is 1.33:1 and they seem Great to me!!!
I do hope we get a remaster DVD of our 1966 Batman TV series. Can't wait to see the show uncut with a super sharp picture with extras I hope so!!!

Bonus 3D episodes using Robin's mask. Holy marketing magic!
Some days you just can't get rid of a ... SHARK!
Re: Batman TV series DVD set in 2014!!
I think a lot of the "these won't be on Blu-Ray" comments are from folks who have yet to adopt the format. They would be absolutely crazy NOT to release them on Blu-Ray. A combo pack would be waaaaaay too expensive for a 120 episode television show. While I'm confident that they'll release them in both formats, it would not surprise me one bit to see a Blu-Ray only release.
Remember all the stories of families going out and buying a color tv just to watch Batman as it was meant to be seen? History would repeat itself if this becomes a Blu-Ray exclusive...only a lot cheaper.

I have the 1966 movie on Blu-Ray and its fantastic, colours are sharp, great dynamics etc..
I do agree with you JWLJN a Blu-Ray boxset of 120 episodes will be costly however I would be willing to set myself back a little to purchase them - would be totally worth it IMO!

If Blu-Rays hold so much more data than DVD, why cant we get the Regular Full Screen Version and a pan and scan widescreen version on the same disc? that way it would please fans of the full and wide...
A good example of this is the new Looney Tunes discs that are being released. They actually put both versions on it!

Pan and scan would be a deal breaker for me-- I would pass on the whole series if they did something horrible like that to it. I don't need to watch the show through a toilet paper tube (which is essentially the same thing). No one but the director should ever be allowed to determine a shot.

Re: Batman TV series DVD set in 2014!!
I couldn't remember the name of the aspect ratio display last night, but I think the one I dislike is windowboxing, and that is what I'm afraid of when it comes to Blu Ray as in my experience windowboxing seems to be how full frame is displayed. There are bars on the top and bottom, and the sides so I can't put it on a theater setting and go widescreen if I feel like it, and I can't even view it as big as I would normally view full frame DVD. I want the quality but looking at a smaller TV in a large TV isn't how I want to enjoy Batman.
I can certainly appreciate wanting to see the original frame the artists intended don't get me wrong, so in a perfect world we would have widescreen and full frame, or at the very least I won't have to deal with windowboxing.

What have you seen that on? I have never came across that for any major studio release the fans would not stand for it. Here are some examples of major releases of old tv shows in which all they did was return it to its original screen ratio by putting black bars on the sides nothing on the bottom. It might just be your player because no major studio will have windowboxing done for their release.

Re: Batman TV series DVD set in 2014!!
Thanks for the links
One example would be Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein on Blu Ray. I checked out the links you listed and I searched for A&C meet Frankenstein and they had black bars only on the sides when viewing the screenshots. So I suppose it probably is my player, I'll have to dig up the manual and see if there is a way to fix it. Most of what I watch is in widescreen so I don't come across the problem often, but it happens, hopefully there is a way to fix it.

I would check the screen ratio it is set at make sure it is 16:9 Wide for the player and then check your remote for the bluray player for a resolution button after you found that put in Abbott and Costello and start it push the resolution button push it til the picture goes back to normal size you may have hit this button by mistake which explains the weird ratio on the screen and without knowing it you left it on there.
