Goofing around with a scan of my Adam West sculpture

Post by Chuck Williams »

Hi All!

Curiosity finally got me!!
I had an anciant scan of the Adam West head in the cowl printed up in what I eyeballed was 1/6th scale.
Here it is next to the Saturn Toys head.

Gotta say, even with the old scan the details popped more than I thought they would in a low cost 3D print.

I put it on the Saturn Toys/Hot Toys figure and you can see that it is just too pudgy.
I found a figure a few years ago that I think would be a better fit for an Adam West figure.
Somewhere in the middle I think.

The cowl needs a lot of clean up work. This was Stewarts screen used cowl. I am working in Zbrush to freshen it up.
It's slow going but what better project to learn on, right?!

This was a baby step into a new world so we'll see what happens. ;)
Please don't share these images! I am just goofing around with this on my own.
Thanks!!

Holy Star of David, that looks like it’s really coming along. How do you like playing in such a small size. Probably similar in scale to the figures you made for Disney

Very cool Chuck. This experiment points out, to me at least, that almost all of the figures fail by making the neck on the cowl too tight around the chin and neck.
Looking forward to seeing more from your adventures in 3d printing.

A lot of the work at Disney was smaller than this.
I remember thinking Barbie was huge in comparison!

I did a Mary Poppins on a carousel horse for Lenox ages ago and the head of her likeness was about 1 inch tall and under a big hat.

Thanks Jimmy!
I agree that they went too far on the Hot Toys/Saturn figure.

When I showed Lynne the side by side she couldn't get over how much the ears stood away from the cowl. Very thick.

It's brilliant, Chuck. We need to get you a 3D printer and unleash you on the 1/6 world.
The too tight around the neck thing goes for the Lewis Wilson suit too-- pretty much any cowl that is made out of fabric would bunch up. Only the rubber (yuck) suits would have no give.

Well, maybe when it comes to Batgirl, you will have that sculpt finished and someone at whatever company is making licensed figures will wake up and use it for the figure.

So awesome to see an accurate shaped cowl on a 1/6th figure after all these years!
